    Our Ethos and Values

    Ethos

At Artemis, we believe that every child deserves to flourish, and that positive relationships are the foundation for learning, wellbeing and lifelong success.

Our therapeutic approach is not an addition to education – it is the way education is experienced. Therapy, relationships and learning are woven together so that every interaction becomes an opportunity for growth, regulation and success.

This approach recognises that every child brings a unique set of strengths, experiences and needs, and that these experiences shape how they engage with learning, relationships and the wider world.

We understand that children thrive when they feel safe, connected and understood. Through consistent, trusting relationships and emotionally informed practice, we create an environment where pupils experience a strong sense of belonging and are supported to develop confidence, resilience and self-belief.

We recognise that behaviour is a form of communication and seek first to understand what lies beneath it, responding with curiosity, empathy and high expectations while helping children to understand themselves, regulate their emotions and engage meaningfully in learning.

Our staff work alongside pupils using reflective, therapeutic approaches that help children make sense of their experiences, develop emotional literacy and build the confidence to engage successfully with others.

We believe every child deserves not only to feel safe and understood, but also to experience challenge, achievement and the confidence to pursue ambitious futures. Our therapeutic approach does not lower expectations; it removes barriers so that every pupil can aspire, participate and succeed.

As part of The Gallery Trust, we are committed to creating a school community where every child is seen, heard and valued. Our approach is underpinned by the belief that all pupils can flourish when they are supported to belong, encouraged to believe in themselves, empowered to embrace opportunities and differences, and inspired to achieve their aspirations.

    Values

As a new school, Artemis will initially adopt The Gallery Trust’s values of Belong, Believe, Embrace and Achieve, providing a strong foundation for our culture, ethos and practice from the outset. However, we recognise that a school’s values are most meaningful when they are shaped and owned by its community. As the school develops, we will work collaboratively

with pupils, families, staff and partners to review and refine our values, ensuring they reflect the unique identity, aspirations and experiences of the Artemis community. This approach reflects our commitment to participation, belonging and shared ownership, enabling all members of our community to contribute to the school’s ongoing development and success.

    Belong

We prioritise safety, connection and inclusion. Through nurturing relationships and a culture of acceptance, every pupil is supported to feel valued, understood and part of a community where they can thrive.

    Believe

We hold unwavering belief in the potential of every child, recognising strengths before barriers and possibility before limitation. We celebrate progress, nurture confidence and trust, and maintain high aspirations while providing the support needed for children to overcome barriers and experience success.

    Embrace

We embrace individuality, diversity and different life experiences. We encourage curiosity, self-expression and personal growth, helping pupils develop the confidence to engage with new opportunities, build positive relationships and contribute meaningfully to their communities.

    Achieve

Achievement is measured not only in qualifications, but in confidence gained, relationships restored, independence developed and aspirations realised. Through personalised learning, therapeutic support and ambitious expectations, we enable pupils to make progress academically, socially and emotionally, preparing them for successful and fulfilling futures.

    Our aims

Through our therapeutic, relational and trauma-responsive approach, we aim to:

    • Create an environment where pupils feel safe enough to learn, connected enough to belong and confident enough to take risks.
    • Build relationships that enable children to regulate, recover, grow and flourish.
    • Understand and respond effectively to the impact of adversity and trauma on learning, behaviour and development.
    • Deliver a personalised and ambitious curriculum that enables all pupils to make meaningful progress from their individual starting points.
    • Equip pupils with the skills, confidence and self-awareness needed to regulate emotions, build healthy relationships and become increasingly independent.
    • Work collaboratively with families, carers and professionals to provide holistic support that addresses the needs of the whole child.
    • Promote inclusion, respect and a sense of belonging within the school and wider community.
    • Enable every pupil to achieve their full potential and successfully transition to the next stage of education, employment or adulthood.

At Artemis, we believe every child deserves the opportunity to flourish. Through exceptional relationships, therapeutic practice and ambitious education, we create a community where children feel safe enough to belong, confident enough to believe in themselves, courageous enough to embrace new possibilities and empowered to achieve futures that may once have seemed beyond their reach.
